Apple TV continues to deliver high-quality original programs across different genres, whether it's comedy, drama, science fiction, or action/thriller, with the involvement of A-list stars and creatives. Some of them have been critically acclaimed or received major awards, proving the streamer's reputation as one of the best in business today.
You might be looking for recommendations on the great original programs that you can watch on the streamer this year. Here is our list of the best Apple TV original shows of 2025 (in no particular order).
The Studio

The satirical comedy, The Studio, stars Seth Rogen as Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of embattled Continental Studios. As movies struggle to stay alive and relevant, Matt and his core team of infighting executives battle their insecurities as they wrangle narcissistic artists and craven corporate overlords in the ever-elusive pursuit of making great films.
The series has been one of the most acclaimed programs this year as critics praised its clever satirical take on Hollywood, writing, directing, and performances of the cast and A-list guest stars. Recently, it won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series and broke the record for most wins for a comedy series in a single season.
Severance Season 2

Severance returned this year with an acclaimed second season that elevated the stakes for the main characters. In its sophomore outing, Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe.
While the first season was already highly praised by critics, the second season received much better acclaim as it managed to expand the lore and deepen the mystery of Lumon Industries. The performances of the cast, especially Britt Lower and Tramell Tillman, received special mentions and even led to their Emmy wins this year.
Dope Thief

Dope Thief follows long-time Philly friends and delinquents who pose as DEA agents to rob an unknown house in the countryside, only to have their small-time grift become a life-and-death enterprise, as they unwittingly reveal and unravel the biggest hidden narcotics corridor on the Eastern Seaboard.
The eight-episode limited series received praise for Brian Tyree Henry and Wagner Moura's performances and its handling of dark subject matter. Henry even received an Emmy nomination for his performance, the show's only recognition this year. Ridley Scott also directed the pilot episode and was involved as one of the executive producers.
Slow Horses Season 5

Slow Horses is back this year with a fifth season. This time around, everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend, but when a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected.
Unlike most streaming shows today, the hit spy thriller series releases a new season in an annual schedule with the same cast and creatives involved. The new season continues to deliver high-quality entertainment and exciting action with a new mission that the Slough House team needs to investigate.
Your Friends and Neighbors

Your Friends and Neighbors follows Jon Hamm as a disgraced, fired hedge fund manager who grapples with his recent divorce, resorts to stealing from his neighbors’ homes in the exceedingly affluent Westmont Village, only to discover that the secrets and affairs hidden behind those wealthy facades might be more dangerous than he ever imagined.
Hamm's performances have been receiving a lot of praise from critics as he proved once again that he is one of the best actors who can effectively play an antihero and complicated character. Before its premiere, it was already renewed for a second season, promising more hijinks with Coop Cooper.
Murderbot

The science-fiction comedy series, Murderbot, follows a self-hacking security construct who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable clients. Murderbot must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.
Alexander Skarsgard's performance has received praise for bringing a lot of heart, humor, and gravitas to his character. The series was also highlighted for its ambitious comedic tone in the science-fiction space, which is rare to see in a TV series.
Stick

The sports comedy, Stick, stars Owen Wilson as Pryce Cahill, an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer whose career was derailed prematurely 20 years ago. After the collapse of his marriage and while working at an Indiana sporting goods store, Pryce hedges his bets, and future, entirely on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom named Santi.
The series has been praised by critics and audiences for its light-hearted tone, even if the depiction of the golf business is not necessarily accurate. Peter Dager's breakout performance was also highlighted as the reason why this is worth watching, aside from Wilson's charismatic presence.
