Deadpool & Wolverine is expected to feature several surprising cameos, but there’s one character fans have been wanting to see: X-23. However, it seems like it won't happen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to avoid messing with Logan’s timeline.
Fans know by now that Wolverine dies in the 2017 Logan, which was supposed to be Hugh Jackman’s final movie as the adamantium-clawed superhero.
However, the actor will make his triumphant return in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Given X-23’s importance in Logan and the possibility that the third Deadpool film may feature remnants of the 20th Century Studios movie, it’s the perfect time for Dafne Keen to reprise her role as Laura Kinney after seven years.
Sadly, she confirmed in an interview with On Demand Entertainment that it wasn’t happening.
“It's sad...I love Hugh Jackman...Ryan Reynolds is a legend ... It would've been amazing to be a part of it,” she said. “They’re not gonna mess with Logan’s timeline.”
Despite that, the actress expressed her love for Jackman and excitement about seeing the movie, though only as a fan.
She also praised Shawn Levy for being one of the best directors in the business and called Reynolds a “legend.”
“I love Hugh and creatively, I love Ryan, and I love Shawn. I'm really excited to see what they've made,” she continued. “I think Shawn is one of the best directors out there right now. Obviously, Ryan's a legend. I'll just go watch it as a fan to see my old buddy in it.”
Is Dafne Keen in Deadpool & Wolverine?
Though Keen already confirmed her non-appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine, it’s good to note that stars have been keeping their cameos under wraps in big Marvel Studios movies.
Andrew Garfield initially denied his involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home, though it was evident that his Peter Parker variant would make his way to the MCU.
With NDAs in place and Marvel Studios wanting to surprise the audience with unexpected cameos, the artists cannot reveal the truth.
It's also worth remembering that the version of Jackman’s character fans will see in Deadpool & Wolverine isn’t from Logan.
So, Keen’s appearance in the threequel is still possible one way or another, considering that it’s set in the Multiverse, so any character could show up in the film.
Deadpool and X-Men’s Fox-Era movie cast will appear in the MCU film, like Aaron Stanford’s Pyro, Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, Lady Deathstrike, and Azazel.
Keen may have kept her cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine a secret to surprise fans when she finally appears on the big screen.
If her cameo doesn’t happen, it will be a big shock for many, knowing how well-received her character is in Logan.
Indeed, it would be exciting to witness Keen playing an older Laura and working together with Jackman’s Wolverine after all these years.
