Millie Bobby Brown Recalls Last Days on Stranger Things Set

In a candid interview on the live broadcast of the Happy Sad Confused podcast at 92NY, Brown reminisced and told host Josh Horowitz about her last crucial moments on the Stranger Things set.
Apart from feeling the talons of the end clawing at her, Brown "went into a little but of a slight, slight depression." She added, "It was very hard for me. I would not have expected that coming off of the show. I’m a very happy-go-lucky person.”
Brown remembered spending January reconnecting with her co-stars to "mend" any unresolved tensions as part of her securing that they would keep in contact even after they leave the set.
But what the Damsel star truly wanted to convey was how much Stranger Things had been a part of her life.
“And no one will ever understand it,” she continued, “I started the show when I was 10, and this character was me, and these people were in my life more than my own family. I saw these people more than going home and eating dinner with my family. Saying goodbye to that after 10 years was a very, very emotional thing, and I’m going to miss Eleven more than anything.”
Did Eleven Really Die? Stranger Things Star Believes Otherwise

At the end of the series, there were only three people who knew how Eleven's story ended: co-creators Duffer Brothers and the actress herself. Brown said they made a pact to never tell anyone on the cast to keep the surprise.
Contrary to what the ending seemingly showed about Eleven's tragic fate, Brown revealed she had a different interpretation of her final scenes.
“Jake was like, ‘Ooh, these are really split.’ And the whole cast thinks I’m dead,” Brown said playfully. “One, rude. It’s so rude of them. There’s something to it, surely. You guys are projecting! It’s like, ‘Hey guys, we get it. You want me dead!’ But I was like, ‘Believe!’ Let’s have some hope in here.”
Though there had been mixed interpretations from her co-stars on whether Eleven really passed away or chose to explore the world on her own, the Duffer Brothers had erased all theories with their own answer.
The Duffer Brothers confirmed to Variety that there was no script version where Eleven joined Mike in the basement to play Dungeons & Dragons one last time.
If anything, as Ross Duffer said, the ending had to be "not as simple, but also bittersweet, and that there was hope there."
In Eleven's case, she "does not communicate with Mike in anyway" as her own choice of keeping them safe.
"Any contact would risk bringing her back out in the open and starting the cycle again,” Ross continued. “So, in the story that Mike’s telling, I don’t think he sees a version where they reconnect.”
