Avengers: Infinity War VFX Artists Comment on THAT Soul Stone Scene

As we wait for Avengers: Endgame to come out, many fans are looking back at the previous MCU installments and trying to find clues on how to beat Thanos. While most of us felt that Ant-Man and The Wasp already told us what would happen in the film's post-credits scene (time travel), anything could happen. One major thing fans are hoping to see revisited is the "Soul World" that was seen near the end of Avengers: Infinity War, after Thanos eliminated half of the universe.

The VFX artists of said film have discussed the Soul World with IGN and revealed some interesting details about this world in the Soul Stone, like how this area might not actually exist.

Kelly Port and Dan DeLeeuw talked about this world that Thanos entered after "The Snap," which they originally called "The Way Station." According to these artists, that moment in Infinity War was meant to be a moment of reflection for The Mad Titan, which is interesting. Seeing this made fans think that these characters were being dragged into the Soul Stone but that doesn't seem to be the case.

"We just explore quite a few different things and play around with the idea that it was a sort of vault, or as if we were in the Soul Stone, for example. But I think it ended up taking me playing around with the spread water as if... we had a lot of blood involved. It was interesting, because Thanos being that lead character, normally... you can get very introspective. The metaphysical way station came along, and we think, that would be interesting. But from a storytelling perspective, I thought it was really wonderful that that sequence stayed in there, because [it's] really a nice kind of pause. Like, it just goes straight from the snap to people flipping out. It had this moment of reflection, which I thought was really nice just in the narrative, reflecting about what he has done."

Considering how this topic is still debated by many fans of Avengers: Infinity War here is hoping that Avengers: Endgame gives us some perspective on that world. The movie comes out on April 26, 2019.
