Jeremy Renner might hold comfort in the fact that he still has a future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe despite the controversy surrounding his custody battle for his daughter, Ava, however, it seems like the Hawkeye actor's onscreen wife doesn't have the same kind of luxury.
Linda Cardellini might have played Laura Barton (Hawkeye's wife) in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Avengers: Endgame, however, it seems like the Geeks and Freaks star is uncertain of her future in the MCU.
Speaking in an interview with Collider, Cardellini opens up about her possible future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and while the actress is open to the idea of Laura Barton getting her own comic book movie, she doesn't really think that it's ever going to happen. After all, fans are more interested in Marvel heroes, not their family or their friends.
"I mean, you know, it was one of those things where I was sort of brought into the universe and it truly is its own universe. It's its own entity with this fandom that is incredible and to be part of it is, I don't know, it's pretty fun," the actress told the entertainment news outlet, "My daughter's friends love it. It's one of those kinds of things, you know? So it's always fun. I mean, would I love to see a Laura Barton movie? Sure! But I don't think that's gonna happen. I think people are more interested in the superheroes."
Cardellini could be wrong, though. There's been a shift in tone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – Marvel has been giving second chances to less popular characters like Natalie Portman's Jane Foster. A character intended to be Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) love interest, Foster is set to return as the Almighty Thor in Taika Waititi's second Marvel movie, Thor: Love and Thunder.
We'll just have to wait and see whether the same opportunity arises for Cardillini.
Marvel's next release, Black Widow, is set to premiere on November 6, 2020.
