Avengers: Endgame Almost Had Fox Characters Joining The Fight If Disney Acquisition Happened Sooner

There is little doubt that people were hoping that more superheroes would show up in Avengers: Endgame. After all, Disney had just acquired 20th Century Fox when the film premiered and fans were expecting to see the X-Men and Fantastic Four joining the battle against Thanos. Interestingly, fans weren't the only ones who wanted this to happen.

Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo took part in a Reddit AMA to answer fan questions. Not surprisingly, someone wondered if the Russo brothers had bigger plans in case the acquisition happened sooner.

"If the Disney-Fox deal had gone through earlier, how many heroes would you have wanted to incorporate into Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame? Endgame felt like the culmination of every single hero and character we knew coming together to stand off against Thanos, but the Fox properties obviously weren't present," Reddit user ZoocarBlanco wondered.

"Double the amount," the Russos responded.

It's a cool answer considering that the Russo brothers could have turned Endgame into the first truly massive crossover film for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On the other hand, that could have also meant that several storylines would be reduced to make way for the new characters. In the end, it might be better if the X-Men and Fantastic Four get their own introductions into the MCU. Hopefully, this will be announced by Disney soon.

Avengers: Endgame is currently available on digital. The film's DVD and Blu-ray will be released on August 13.
