An alleged trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has leaked online over the weekend, leaving many wondering whether it is real or fake.

The 72-second clip is now circulating on social media and has sent fans into a frenzy with a glimpse of the highly anticipated crossover movie–if it is real, that is.

However, because it is heavily pixelated, it is difficult to determine whether the footage is AI-generated or the real trailer shown at the recent CinemaCon. So, what is actually true about it?

The leaked Avengers: Doomsday trailer is unclear and difficult to verify due to its poor quality, but some characters can be identified through their silhouettes as they appear on screen.

For one, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) reunite and stand side by side as the latter catches Mjolnir, while Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) looms in the background.

They then jump into the frame for an unknown reason, which could be due to clunky editing that still needs to be refined.

The next scene appears to show Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), followed by other hard-to-identify characters.

From there, the X-Men begin to appear, led by Cyclops (James Marsden) and Mystique, among others, while other Marvel superheroes such as Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) arrive one by one.

The final shot shows a Sentinel blasting energy from its hands before the footage cuts off.

While the leaked Avengers: Doomsday footage appears to match supposed plot leaks, rumors, and costume photos from the film, it ultimately shows little that fans do not already know.

Sure, many online scoopers claim it is real, but it could also be a tactic to generate engagement.

However, if there is one thing fans can look at to determine whether it is a real Doomsday trailer, it would be Marvel Studios and Disney’s reaction to it.

In fact, days after it surfaced online, both studios have remained silent, not issuing a single DMCA takedown of the footage–unlike Sony Pictures, which quickly scrambled to take down the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer after it leaked online last weekend.

It is well known that when genuine Marvel footage leaks, Disney’s legal team moves quickly to suppress it. This is why the Brand New Day trailer was reportedly removed almost immediately.

So, as the Doomsday trailer continues to circulate online, it seems it may not be something Marvel is actively trying to protect.

However, radio silence cannot be taken as confirmation. Studios sometimes allow low-resolution bootlegs to fade out on their own instead of amplifying attention.

In fact, known scooper Daniel Richtman has described related leaks–including Wolverine, Spider-Man, and Deadpool images–as “the real deal.”

That said, even if the footage looks convincing, the lack of action could simply be Marvel allowing doubt to build and encouraging fans to question its authenticity.

Ultimately, even if the trailer remains online or is taken down, neither outcome definitively confirms whether it is real or fake.

For now, due to its low resolution and lack of official confirmation from Marvel, its authenticity remains unverified.
