The first teaser for Avengers: Doomsday was recently leaked, and any fan would echo the same sentiment: the MCU has set a course for failure with what their plans have in store for the billion-dollar franchise.
What the Avengers: Doomsday Leak Really Says About the Future of MCU

The leaked footage didn't just confirm a few new plot points; it revealed two massive, highly controversial character returns.
Firstly, Robert Downey Jr. is back in the MCU, but as a variant of Doctor Doom. Adding fuel to the fire, one of his original comrades, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), will be joining his reprise, back as the former Captain America, who is set to lead the film along with Thor (Chris Hemsworth).
While original fans rejoice at the thought of having the original Avengers team reunite after so long, Steve's return is not a symbol of fixing what the MCU and the Multiverse already ruined. If anything, this would make things go downhill even faster.
It's not enough that Steve chose to be with Peggy in an alternate universe rather than stay with Bucky; he has to return and relive that mistake for himself and the fans. And when he retakes the Vibranium shield, what happens to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie)?
Understandably, no one, not even the U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), could ever replace Cap, but it's not an excuse to simply bring him back to save the franchise.
Should that leak turn out to be the true events of what Avengers: Doomsday has in store, the MCU might be irreversibly doomed.
Avengers: Doomsday is Trying Too Hard to Replicate What Endgame Did

One thing's for sure: not a single Avengers movie could ever top what Avengers: Endgame did, and that's not a bad thing.
However, ever since the concept of the Multiverse centered the franchise, Marvel has done nothing but rely on nostalgia and purposely resurrect the dead for the sake of reliving the same old characters who built the franchise.
Based on the leaked material, Doomsday is nothing more than a replication of what already unfolded in Endgame: the potential death of Iron Man in his Doctor Doom form, Steve failing to survive, and Thor's possible retirement from the heroic role.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to premiere in theaters on December 18, 2026, while Secret Wars follows suit as it is slated for a December 17, 2027, release.
