The highly-anticipated Avengers 5 will no longer focus on Kang the Conqueror as the main villain of the film.
Ever since Jonathan Majors' firing and the removal of "The Kang Dynasty" from the title, fans have been wondering whether the fan-favorite villain will still be the main focus of the next Avengers installment.
So far, Marvel Studios remains mum on their plans for Kang's future in the aftermath of Majors' firing and whether they will recast the role with a different actor in upcoming projects.
Kang the Conqueror is No Longer the Focus of Avengers 5
A recent report confirmed that Avengers 5 will have a "new focus" on its main villain, instead of Kang the Conqueror.
There are no details on which villain will become the main focus of the film, but Marvel Studios will likely reveal it in their upcoming San Diego Comic-Con Hall H presentation.
Considering the ambiguous fate of Kang in the MCU's future, it's not surprising that they will abandon him as the main villain of Avengers 5 and pivot to a different character as the antagonist that the heroes will face.
Several candidates could take over Kang's spot in the film with Doctor Doom being the most popular choice from fans given his stature and iconic villain status among long-time Marvel fans.
This is also an indication that the movie will have a different storyline and it is interesting to see whether it will be more multiversal or have street-level stakes before they crossover with heroes from other universes.
For now, let's wait for any announcement from Marvel Studios regarding their plans for Avengers 5. So far, what we only know is that the Russo Brothers are in talks to helm the upcoming movies.
Avengers 5 is slated for release in theaters on May 1, 2026.
