Avengers 4: Bradley Cooper Was Happy Thanos Succeeded

Avengers: Infinity War shocked a lot of people by not only focusing on Thanos so much but having him achieve his goal in the end by wiping out half of the universe. It left many fans with their jaw on the floor, seeing so many of their favorite characters get turned into dust. Some fans feel that Thanos really was the film's main character since he was presented in a somewhat sympathetic light.

Rocket voice actor Bradley Cooper is one of those people, as a recent interview with BBC 1 revealed. Like many fans, he felt that the movie justified Thanos' actions a bit, though he did feel bad for all of the people who were killed by the Mad Titan's finger snap.

Elaborating on his answer, Cooper stated that the movie was amazing for letting the villain win and achieve his goal. Cooper also felt some catharsis when we saw Thanos in the end, just looking at the sunset after achieving his goal. This doesn't mean that the majority of fans will agree with the actor - think of poor Spider-Man - but he does have a point.

"Yeah. It was amazing. That's why that movie works. Thanos is… What a character. The fact that he made you, kind of, go like ‘He's got a point, right? He's got a point.' And part of me is like ‘I'm glad he's sitting there on his chair, with the sun coming down.' I mean, I hate that half of the world's dead, but there's a part of me that's like, ‘He succeeded!' I don't know what that says about me."

Thanos really wanted to restore balance to the universe with the Infinity Stones, no matter what it took. After witnessing his homeworld fall due to overpopulation, Thanos decided to save the universe by wiping out half of its inhabitants. He even killed half of the Asgardian race and his adopted daughter Gamora to achieve his goal.

Avengers: Infinity War is available now on Blu-Ray, DVD, and digital. Avengers 4 comes out on May 3, 2019.
