Arknights: Prelude to Dawn – A Game-Based Dystopian Anime That's Currently Making Waves
Arknights: Prelude to Dawn is an action and fantasy anime based on a Chinese free-to-play, tactical mobile RPG known as Tomorrow's Ark.
The game and adaptation are ideal for fans of dystopian anime, as it is set in a post-apocalyptic future on the planet Terra.
Natural disasters leave in their wake a mineral that caused the spread of oripathy, a deadly disease.
In the game, players assume the role of an amnesiac and masked character who commands a team of operators of Rhodes Island, a medical and pharmaceutical organization.
The anime also focuses on Rhodes Island and the organization's attempt to save humanity from oripathy, especially as sufferers are being persecuted.

Here's the Episode Count of Arknights: Prelude to Dawn
According to the popular anime database, MyAnimeList, Arknights: Prelude to Dawn will have a total of eight episodes, making this a shorter anime than most.
In the past decade, we've been used to anime that have 12 episodes if they're one-cour-long, or between 24 and 26 episodes for those spanning over two cours.
However, we do see variations in that trend. For instance, there are 20 episodes for The Eminence in Shadow and the same goes for To Your Eternity.
This goes on to show that despite marketing restrictions, anime can still take as much or as little space as they need to tell their story.
Arknights: Prelude to Dawn is a unique case, as it is based on a video game rather than a manga or a light novel.
It might be hard to glean too much content from a game, especially given that the game is a tower defense RPG as opposed to a visual novel, the latter of which tends to be more information-rich.
Here's What We Know About Other Arknights Content After Season 1
Currently, the Arknights: Prelude to Dawn anime is ongoing, and there have been no explicit plans about Season 2 or other additional content so far.
However, more content can't be ruled out yet.
For the time being, the anime is doing quite well especially given that it's based on a video game, which is sometimes a cause for bad rap.
Back in 2020, there was an Arknights: Prelude to Dawn ONA which kicked things off -- albeit at an uncomfortable timing, given that it's an anime about a deadly disease.
