Originally scheduled for a release this year, New Mutants has been delayed twice and will be coming out in 2019. Reshoots like this might sound like bad news but actress Anya Taylor-Joy seems to be more positive about it. Granted, she could be putting on a positive face for the media but Taylor-Joy did mention something interesting.
During an interview with Collider, Taylor-Joy said that the reshoots would allow them to make the movie they actually want.
The actress also claims that there are no frustrations with the delay and that she loves playing this character. She understands how frustrated fans feel but the actress promises that they will deliver something grand. Let's hope that's the case.
Taylor-Joy will be playing Illyana Rasputin, who fans know as Magik or the sister of Colossus. Previous reports claim that early versions of the movie only had a few horror elements but still felt like an X-Men movie. However, after the first trailer's positive feedback and the success of horror movies like IT, Fox gave the green light to make the movie more horror-oriented.
New Mutants is currently scheduled for an August 2, 2019 release. Hopefully, the delays and reshoots are a positive like Taylor-Joy claims.
