The COVID-19 pandemic has taken quite a toll on the entertainment industry. Not only has the spread of the novel coronavirus forced theaters to shut down and delay the release of highly-anticipated blockbuster movies like Mulan, Black Widow, and Wonder Woman, but the pandemic has also forced studios to shut down the production of upcoming film and television titles to prevent the spread of the disease.
While most studios are still hesitant when it comes to resuming production, there are reports saying that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will finally return to Prague, the city in Czech where the Disney+ series was working in last when production was shut down due to the spread of COVID-19.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Anthony Mackie just recently had a virtual press stop on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to talk about life in quarantine and during the interview with Fallon, the Marvel actor opened up about the new Marvel project.
"I'm happy to say we are not cancelled, we are on hold," Mackie said during his virtual interview with Fallon, "So we're going back, hopefully sometime soon, to finish it up."
The Marvel actor quelled fan's concerns about the project, hinting that production would resume soon.
"We have a little bit more to go back and do, but everybody rest assured, it will come out. We are not canceled. Because you know, in this business, 'Take a little break, we'll come back to it,' that means they're never coming back to it [laughs]," the actor added, "I was like, 'Man, I was Captain America for all of two weeks, this sucks! How did I get fired on my day off?'"
Of course, Marvel would want production to resume soon. Disney needs new content on Disney+, and Marvel has yet to launch a series on the streaming site.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has yet to receive a release date but we expect the series to premiere sometime later this year.
