Anne Shirley Unveils Teaser Trailer and Release Date
The Answer Studio recently released the 15-second teaser trailer for Anne Shirley giving their fans an official early look at the upcoming anime series.
They also revealed that it will start airing on NHK Educational TV this April 5, 2025.
It was previously announced that the anime series was set to premiere sometime this April, and now we finally know the exact date it will be coming.
While they only showed 15 seconds of footage, it is still a promising look at the anime's modern spin on the classic children's novel and it seems that they will be able to retain the magic of what made Anne of Green Gables still a beloved story today.
An extended official trailer is expected to be released once we're closer to its Japanese broadcast premiere this April.
What is Anne Shirley About?
Anne Shirley is a new anime adaptation and modern telling of the classic novel Anne of Green Gables.
In case you're not familiar, Anne of Green Gables centers on the adventures of an 11-year-old orphan girl named Anne Shirley, who is sent by mistake to two middle-aged siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert on a farm in Canada.
The series will consist of 24 episodes and it will likely cover all eight books in Lucy Maud Montgomery's series of novels. There are no details yet on whether it will be available in an international streaming service.
The voice cast includes Honoka Inoue, Aya Nakamura, Yatsunori Matsumoto, Naoya Miyase, and Yume Miyamoto. Hiroshi Kawamata directed the new series.
"As the story progresses at a good pace, I hope you will watch how Anne grows up little by little with the help of those around her," Kawamata teased.
"I would also like you to pay attention to the unique characters and the background of Prince Edward Island's rich nature, which is very vividly depicted."
He added, "All the staff are working hard to make this series enjoyable to the end. I hope that through this series, you will become interested in the original work and other content."
