As Hollywood A-listers obsess about staying youthful and pretty even in their forties through cosmetic surgery, Anne Hathaway fans hoped she would be different.
The 42-year-old actress' flawless and ageless look at the Met Gala 2025 fueled more rumors of her possibly going under the knife and getting plastic surgery.
Anne Hathaway's Flawless Met Gala Appearance Gains Traction from Fans
The Princess Diaries star strutted on the Met Gala red carpet in a Carolina Herrera dress, tailored to meet the iconic event's theme this year, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, aka "Tailored for You."
Apart from shining in her spotlight of the oversized white button-up tucked into her beaded black-and-white-striped column skirt, she wore her long hair in an updo beehive style, highlighting her no-wrinkle face on camera.
This isn't the first time plastic surgery speculations have surrounded Hathaway. In fact, previously, her fresh-faced look in Ralph Lauren's fall 2025 fashion show became the talk of the town as she sat front row.
"These plastic surgeons are getting real good," one user posted on X, as another agreed, "Money well spent, I can't even tell."
"Anne Hathaway doesn't age, man," another chimed in while others added, "Devil Wear[s] Prada part 2. Anne Hathaway, you never aged."
Anne Hathaway has yet to respond whether or not the rumors are true, but one fan raised that that didn't matter, "Whatever procedure/treatment Anne Hathaway had done to her face has her looking STUNNING. She's always been gorgeous but honey??"
"We love everybody here, we respect everybody here, [but] we dressed for one person," Hathaway told Vogue when asked about the inspiration behind her Met Gala look, "And we wanted André Leon Talley to look down from heaven and scream, 'Glamour!'"
The Devil Wears Prada Star Once Spoke Out About Plastic Surgery Pressure
As part of an open secret about the Hollywood deal, it means actors have to push through endless societal pressure of having to be their spectacle 24/7, which Hathaway had had her share of.
The actress notably spoke out about the pressure to get plastic surgery in 2008, when she was just 25 years old, trying to navigate the movie industry on her own.
"Growing up, there's a lot of pressure on young women, when you first become aware of your own looks in relation to other women's looks," Hathaway told the Express UK.
"You just want to be cookie-cutter beautiful," she added, "And sometimes you think, 'Maybe I could change something about myself to fit that mould.' I'm no exception to that."
However, it's also worth mentioning that at the time, Hathaway pointed out her own philosophy, "If there's anything in my power to change myself, I'll do it. But in terms of radically changing myself for self-esteem or anything, no, I don't think I'll ever do that."
In the meantime, Hathaway has three upcoming projects, namely: playing Verity Crawford in Colleen Hoover's developing Verity adaptation, being cast for The Odyssey, which comes out in 2026, and her previous comeback confirmation for Princess Diaries 3.
