Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender
Earlier, we mentioned that there are characters who betrayed their family with good intentions.
The Fire Lord, Zuko's father, wanted to take over the world. Zuko was once on their team, but when he realized the intentions of his father, he changed his mind and decided to betray his family.
In Avatar: The Last Airbender, his father hated him, and he became an outcast. In the end, his sacrifice was not in vain.
Ray from The Promised Neverland
Ray’s role in The Promised Neverland might be confusing for some as he was a double and, eventually, a triple agent.
He started as a spy for his mother, but toward the middle of the series, it was revealed that his intentions were in favor of his friends. He distracted his mother while the other kids found a way to escape.
Unlike Zuko, Ray’s mom discovered his betrayal and tricked him in the end.
Hiruzen Sarutobi from Naruto
The third Hokage was known to be a great man and was the longest leader of the village.
But as the journey of Naruto continued, it was revealed that he was not a good Hokage after all.
The fourth Hokage, who treated Hiruzen as a family to the point that he would leave his son to the Third Hokage, wanted Naruto to have an image of a hero as he became the new Jinchuriki.
It was not what happened, unfortunately. Naruto was treated as an outcast, which can be considered a huge betrayal.
Light Yagami from Death Note
Light Yagami was known to be a loving and kind person. He did not get into trouble and had good grades.
But what his family did not know was that he was obsessed with killing criminals and wanted to be God.
After acquiring the Death Note, Light can kill anyone whose name was written in the notebook. He was able to kill hundreds of people and even lied to his dad during the process.
Satsuki Kiryuin from Kill La Kill
Satsuki’s relationship with her mother is a complicated one. Her mother was the one who experimented on her and exposed her to the Life Fibers.
She was also sexually abused by her own mother. With everything Satsuki experienced with her mom, it was not surprising that she betrayed the woman by stabbing her in the back, literally.
Tamaki Suoh from Ouran High School Host Club
In the series, Tamaki Suoh is a happy-go-lucky person who will never betray anyone.
He is the type who wants everyone to be happy, to the point that he would be engaged to women he doesn't like.
With Haruhi’s interference, Tamaki followed what his heart truly desired and betrayed his family.
Ren Sohma from Fruits Basket
Although it was not upfront, Ren’s betrayal had a huge impact on her daughter, Akito, in Fruits Basket.
She manipulated her and had a harsh attitude, which led to Akito’s toxic personality.
She expected to be treated like a God since she’s the mother of Akito, but when this did not happen, she treated Akito so badly that it appeared that she betrayed her daughter all her life.
All For One from My Hero Academia
As fans expected, All For One was born to be a villain. He does not care if he has to betray his comrades as well as his own brother.
He forced his brother to a Quirk to make him follow All For One. His brother tried to resist at first, but he was defenseless.
Eventually, his brother had One For All, the only Quirk that could stop All For One.
Itachi Uchiha from Naruto
One of the most iconic betrayals in Naruto was the one done by Itachi Uchiha.
He made the decision to kill all the members of his clan, except for his brother, Sasuke.
He then became a rogue Shinobi and made his survivor brother hate him to the point that Sasuke grew up wanting to kill his older brother. Itachi had a good purpose, but it is still a betrayal.
Shou Tucker from Fullmetal Alchemist
Behind Shou’s good image as a scientist and father, he was actually a monster who was addicted to his research.
He killed his wife and turned her into a Chimera and did other experiments on their family dog and daughter.
His betrayal of his family made him one of the worst characters in the anime world.
Rei Todoroki from My Hero Academia
Fans of My Hero Academia know how toxic the Todoroki household is. So, it was no surprise that Shoto’s personality was cold toward his classmates.
It all started with his manipulative father who triggered his mother, Rei, to treat her own son badly.
She would give him the worst treatment to the point that she would splash boiling water on his eyes, which led to a scar on his face.
