Anika Noni Rose Reacts to Tiana Series Cancellation
In her recent post on X, Rose finally shared her reaction to the news that Disney has decided to shelve Tiana.
She admitted that she was "deeply disappointed" when she heard the news that the project has been canceled and she found the decision to be "hurtful."
"I too am deeply disappointed that the continuation of Tiana’s journey in series form has been cut short," the actress said.
"The series was a long time coming, and a lot of beautiful work was put into it by all of the creatives involved, including but not limited to long time champion Jenn Lee, our wonderful writer/director Joyce Sherri, some fabulous animators and an amazing music team."
Rose continued, "As hurtful as it is for anything you’ve put your heart and soul in to be prematurely ended, my hope is that when what is now to be a Tiana Special Event airs, that all of you beautiful, loving, loyal fans who’ve been championing not just the series, but a Princess and the Frog sequel, tune in."
The Future of Disney's The Princess and the Frog Franchise
In lieu of the TV series cancellation, Disney is now working on a The Princess and the Frog short-form project for Disney+.
The details regarding the new project are currently under wraps, but Joyce Sherri is still involved as the writer and director while Rose also remains as the voice of Princess Tiana.
There are no official plans at the moment for an animation film sequel or live-action remake of The Princess and the Frog despite the fans' clamor for more projects based on the franchise.
