Andor Star Diego Luna Discusses His Future of Playing the Character After the Series Ends

Diego Luna is set to reprise his fan-favorite role of Cassian Andor in the new Star Wars series Andor. While he will be playing the younger version of the Rebel spy, it is still a welcomed return to the actor in the galaxy far, far away. Despite the character's death at the end of Rogue One, there have been questions about whether Luna will play the role again in another project.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Luna was asked whether Andor will be the final time that he will be playing Cassian Andor in the Star Wars franchise to which he confirmed that it is indeed going to be his swan song in the role.

"For me, this is it. It's a beautiful journey now that I have 24 episodes, 24 shorter films, to tell the story of where Cassian comes from and how he got to be the man we met in Rogue One," Luna said.

It looks like the new series is confirmed to be the last time that Luna will play Cassian Andor and we won't be seeing him in any kind of project that is set prior to the events of the series. However, it doesn't put down the possibility of the character appearing in the animated projects voiced by a different actor.

Considering that the new series will solely focus on Cassian Andor's formative years, it is not surprising to hear that this will be the last time that we will see Luna in the role or even the story of the character told in the franchise overall.

With the rave reviews that the series is getting, it is exciting to see what they have in store and how they'll re-introduce Cassian Andor to the audience (albeit a younger version) six years after his debut in Rogue One.
