The horror anthology series created by Ryan Murphy has made Sarah Paulson an icon. Since 2011, she has remained committed to the show, but Paulson might eventually need to leave the AHS universe. Will that happen anytime soon? Sarah Paulson has spoken about her future in American Horror Story Season 11 and beyond.

Is Sarah Paulson Coming Back for American Horror Story Season 11?

Paulson discussed her possible return to American Horror Story Season 11 and beyond in a recent interview with Variety. The new season is planned to premiere this fall, but the theme and cast list are still unknown.

Paulson would not confirm or deny her involvement in American Horror Story Season 11, but she did reveal that she had contemplated reducing her AHS appearances.

“It’s not that I’m not open to it. I’m always open to it, but I feel like I’ve been doing it for a long time, and people might start getting sick of me in that world,” Paulson said. “Let someone else scream and run and cry for a second. Other people can do that too!”

Also, Paulson stated that her "nervous system" may benefit from a break every now and then.

“There was a time when I was younger when I was like, ‘I can do this all night. I love it!’ Now I’m like, ‘Momma’s tired!'” she added.

A Ryan Murphy Production Staple

Season 1, Murder House, marked the start of Paulson's AHS career. In subsequent seasons titled Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, Roanoke, Cult, and Apocalypse, she continued to make appearances.

Paulson even took on the roles of several different characters in various seasons. In Season 9, 1984, the actor went on a break from AHS, but she made a comeback in Season 10, Double Feature. Paulson has appeared in several of Murphy's other productions, including American Crime Story and Ratched, in addition to American Horror Story.

Paulson skipped AHS: 1984, although she made it plain at the time that there was no bad reason for it. The actress, on the other hand, fessed out to wanting to be a part of the show for as long as possible.

“One time, I said I’d like it to be vampires in space when I’m 99, and I hope the show is still going then,” she told Variety in a previous interview.

Paulson, however, isn't so sure about her appearance in American Horror Story Season 11 and future episodes.

Looking for Something Different?

Having said that, Paulson isn't ready to call it quits totally. In fact, she recently signed up for her next Hulu horror production, Dust.

Dust will follow “a woman who is trapped by increasingly perilous dust storms and is haunted by her past encounters with a threatening presence and takes extraordinary measures to protect her family, according to Deadline.

Paulson told Variety that she now scrutinizes scripts for "new" concepts.
