There's a new governor in Harlan's World and she's here to run the planet. Power star Lela Loren has just joined the cast of Netflix's Altered Carbon Season 2.
According to Variety, Loren will play Danica Harlan, "the charming and ambitious governor" of Harlan's World. She is described as someone "who has the support of the people but keeps an uneasy grip on the political players who surround her." Loren will be a series regular and the report suggests that she has already finished filming for the show.
The casting news comes just a few days after Loren confirmed that she is leaving after Power. Her character Angela Valdes was shot in the Season 5 finale but it's safe to say that Loren found an awesome new gig after her departure from the Starz series.
Loren will join The Falcon and The Winter Soldier star Anthony Mackie, who will take over as Takeshi Kovacs' new sleeve. Luke Cage actress Simone Missick has been cast as Trepp while Jack Ryan star Dina Shihabi will play Dig 301. Other newcomers include Torben Liebrecht as Colonel Ivan Carrera and James Saito as Tanaseda Hideki. Returning cast members include Chris Conner as Poe and Renée Elise Goldsberry as Quellcrist Falconer.
Altered Carbon is based on the scifi novel by Richard K. Morgan. The second season has been confirmed for eight new episodes. Although Season 2 has not yet been given an official release date, it is expected to air on Netflix in 2020.
