Released on January 28, 2022, the first season consisted of 12 episodes, and it quickly made its way to the top of Netflix's global charts, with many viewers even comparing the show to Hwang Dong-hyuk's Squid Game.

All of Us Are Dead became Korea's second series to hit #1 in the global charts. The series was based on the Webtoon, Now At Our School by Joo Dong-Geun, produced by JTStudios and Film Monster.

It's no secret that production companies in South Korea continue to make quality zombie titles like All of Us Are Dead, and despite receiving mixed reviews, many fans on social media praised the series for its entertainment value.

All of Us Are Dead Season 2 Production Status

It was on March 21, 2022, when it was first reported that All of Us Are Dead Season 2 is in the works at Netflix, which is great news for K-drama fans looking forward to seeing how this coming-of-age zombie apocalypse story will continue.

On June 6, Netflix officially renewed All of Us Are Dead for Season 2.

All of Us Are Dead was one of Netflix's biggest hits of early 2022, dominating the streamer's charts worldwide.

Initially, All of Us Are Dead season 2 was supposed to be released on Netflix in 2023. However, this is evidently not true.

Keep in mind though that production for the show's first season was temporarily suspended in August 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Hopefully, the second season isn't undergoing any issues or delays.

Unfortunately, Park Ji-hu (who plays On-jo on the show) revealed in March 2023 that they have not started filming the second season of All of Us Are Dead.

With this announcement, it's unlikely that All of Us Are Dead Season 2 would have been released in 2023. The most that we can expect for season 2 is in late 2024 to 2025.

According to insider information, filming can potentially continue "throughout the first half of 2024," if shooting concludes by June, then post-production will follow closely by date. It is possible for fans to see the return of the show by early 2025.

Another was on January 17 this year when Park Ji-Hu's (On-Jo) agency, BH Entertainment, revealed that All of Us Are Dead season 2 is in Ji-Hu's "2024 lineup."

This is contrary to the photos shared on social media that filming for All of Us Are Dead Season 2 already started in September 2022.

It's possible that the cast will start filming later this year. The potential cause of delay is due to the cast's busy schedule and other commitments.

In the first season of All of Us Are Dead, the entire city of Hyosan was bombed in the martial law leader's desperate efforts to wipe out all the zombies and eradicate the chances of the infection from spreading out to nearby cities.

However, the main cast of students successfully escaped the city before the bombs fell.

While the group of students struggled their way to quarantine camps and ended up losing some friends along the way, they were still able to get out of the zombie-infested areas and into quarantine camps.

Four months later, survivors On-Jo, Dae-Su, Su-Hyeok, Mi-Jin, Ha-Ri, and Hyo-Ryung, reunited and decided to return to the rooftop of their school because On-Jo noticed a light on the rooftop.

When they met on the rooftop, they were surprised at Nam-ra, their class president was still a "halfbie" or half-zombie, revealing that there are more people just like her and that she is helping them out, despite their current state.

Considering her unique condition, she still leaves the group to travel alone, which makes her backstory all the more tragic. As much as she finally got the chance to fit in as a part of a social group, she is forced to run as a half-bie away from them.

The final scene of All of Us Are Dead season 1 hints that its storyline will continue in season 2.

The young survivors approach the ledge where Nam-Ra jumped off, shocked as they see something off-camera. Viewers are left wondering what the main characters are seeing, which will likely take a turn in season 2.

Season 2 may focus on Nam-Ra's story, but we could also see the return of the other survivors. Although their stories have been wrapped up by the end of the first season, we might see them take on a new mission.

The next season might also introduce new characters that could play an important role in a new story.

The show seemingly ends with Nam-Ra living in the wild with other half-zombies and makes no mention of the virus spreading. The WEBTOON, on the other hand, ends with the virus possibly spreading to Japan.

Season 2 could also focus on the aftermath of the bombing while giving us an update about the group of half-zombies. Nam-ra is talking about. It will likely be set in a different nearby Korean city.

It would be exciting to see zombies go wild in Seoul, but having the story set in the capital of South Korea would probably require a larger budget to produce.

The cast for All of Us Are Dead Season 2 is yet to be confirmed as well. However, it's likely that Nam-ra, played by Ham Ji-Hyun, will return to reprise his role.

It's also possible that the other members of Season 1's main cast will return for Season 2, depending on the writers' plans, but it's also likely that new cast members will be introduced.

Season 2 could feature the return of On-Jo (Park Ji-Hoo), Su-Hyeok (Park Solomon), Dae-Su (Im Jae-Hyuk), Ha-Ri (Ha Seung-Ri), Mi-Jin (Lee Eun-Saem) and Hyo-Ryung (Kim Bo-yoon).

Because of her tragic fate in All of Us Are Dead, Squid Game star Lee Yoo-Mi is not expected to return in Season 2, but she said that she's lucky to have grabbed her two iconic roles.

Lee Cheong-San (played by Yoon Chan-Young) could still be alive, according to fan theories shared online.

Fans were quick to speculate that Yoon Chan-Young's character, Cheong-san, somehow survived the bombing, but even Yoon doesn't know about his character's fate.

"To be honest, I don't know," Yoon said, "I haven’t heard about what happens next, and nothing has been decided yet. Personally, I’d like to live. I’d like to be able to say things that I didn’t get to say."

Director Lee Jae-kyoo has expressed his hopes for the show's renewal. Speaking to The Korea Herald, Lee said that he had "intentionally" made room in the zombie series for a potential expansion into Season 2.

Lee said, "Many directions, settings, and scenes were intentionally produced to expand the story into an additional season, including the introduction of the new races of zombies."

He continued, "If the first season can be seen as having presented humanity‘s survival, the next season can talk about the survival of zombies. I hope to present viewers with another season."
