The White Lotus season 3 star Aimee Lou Wood has called out Saturday Night Live for their "mean and unfunny" impression of her in the recent episode.
Saturday Night Live Parodies The White Lotus Season 3 in Pre-Taped Sketch
The recent April 12 episode of Saturday Night Live hosted by Jon Hamm featured a pre-taped sketch titled "The White Potus," which parodies the hit HBO show's third season and the Trump administration.
James Austin Johnson's Donald Trump took over the role of Timothy Ratliff, while Chloe Fineman's Melania Trump played Victoria Ratliff.
Scarlett Johansson, Beck Bennett, and Alex Moffat made surprise appearances and reprised their roles of Ivanka Trump, Vladimir Putin, and Eric Trump.
Hamm did an impression of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Rick alongside Sarah Sherman, who impersonated Aimee Lou Wood's character Chelsea.
Sherman appeared to be wearing fake teeth when she played Wood's Chelsea in the sketch and said a few lines.
Aimee Lou Wood is Not Happy with SNL Poking Fun at Her
However, Wood was not happy with Saturday Night Live poking fun at her appearance in the pre-taped sketch.
In her recent posts on Instagram story, the actress expressed her displeasure over the impersonation. "But whilst in honest mood — I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny xo," she wrote.
In a follow-up post, Wood shared that a lot of fans have reached out to her and agreed that they were also not happy with the show's impersonation.
"Such a shame [because] I had a great time watching it a couple weeks ago. Yes, take the piss for sure — that’s what the show is about — but there must be a [more clever], more nuanced, less cheap way?" she said.
Wood also took issue with Sherman's British accent. "At least get the accent right seriously. I respect accuracy, even if it’s mean," she added.
Hours later, Wood revealed that the show had reached out and made an apology to her. "I’ve had apologies from SNL," she said.
