It goes without saying that Sony Pictures struck gold with the release of 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and now, Miles Morales and his multiversal Spidey gang are set to embark on a new adventure to save the Spider-Verse in the upcoming follow-up titled Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
As it stands, the film's overall plot still remains a mystery to fans and so far, the only characters confirmed for the sequel are Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) and Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson) along with a debuting Spider-Man 2099 voiced by Oscar Isaac. No word yet characters from the original film such as Peni Parker, Spider-Noir, and Spider-Ham will also be returning.
Now, a new merch leak just confirmed the entry of another bizarre iteration of the web-slinger who is probably no stranger to longtime readers of the comics. Several toy images from the Sony Pictures offering have been making the rounds on social media and they pretty much spoil the arrival of Spider-Punk.
The character, whose real name is Hobie Brown is from Earth-138 and often wields an electric guitar and as you may have already guessed, has a love for punk music and culture. Check it out here:

There's no denying that the crew behind the film is feeling a ton of pressure heading into the project's release, especially considering the original ended up achieving unprecedented success. Sequels are always tricky but I have faith that Across the Spider-Verse will once again exceed expectations.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is slated for a theatrical release on June 2, 2023.
