Aaron Carter is now just days before becoming a first-time father. The singer-songwriter is now just waiting for the birth of his son with his fiancé, Melanie Martin. The couple has been expecting a baby boy for quite some time now.

Carter recently revealed that he would be giving his first son a name to honor his friendship with the late Michael Jackson. The “I’m All About You” singer said that he would be naming his son Prince Lyric Carter, which he says is a nod to the late King of Pop.

While the name’s link to the “Thriller” singer is not immediately apparent, Carter explained that Jackson used to call him the Prince of Pop when they used to hang out. The 33-year-old singer said Jackson was his mentor earlier in his career, and naming his child in honor of him just made sense.

Carter is expecting his baby to be born sometime this month. Doctors have given his fiancé a due date of around Nov. 18, but Carter said they are now both ready for the baby to come out any time.

Both Excited But Scared

Sources with knowledge in the matter said that the young Prince-to-be might be arriving via a c-section. Doctors reportedly found that there may be high-risk factors to consider if Martin were to give birth naturally. Carter’s fiancé reportedly has anemia and a condition called ulcerative colitis. Doctors also found that the baby is now in a breech position or is positioned feet first.

Carter said he and Martin are both nervous about the birth, but they are “mostly thrilled” about the baby’s arrival. Martin is particularly anxious and excited, given that she had a miscarriage last year.

Sources said that Martin’s parents would be in Los Angeles to support her. Meanwhile, Carter will likely be alone given his situation with his mother and his “Backstreet Boys” member brother, Nick. Carter is currently estranged from both of them, but he said that he has tried to reach out but hasn’t gotten a response.

Barely Avoided Jail Time For DUI

Carter just recently dodged possible jail time in relation to a DUI case back in 2017. Last month, a judge dismissed Carter’s case after he struck a plea deal with prosecutors.

Court documents showed that Carter had pleaded no contest to reckless driving, a move that prevented him from receiving any jail time. As part of the deal, Carter will be placed on a 12-month probation, and he also has to complete 40 hours of community service. He also has to attend DUI reduction classes and pay around $1,500 in fees and fines.

Carter was arrested in July 2017 on DUI and marijuana possession charges. He was apprehended while he was in a car with his former girlfriend, Madison Parker.
