Machine Gun Kelly recently claimed that he turned down an opportunity to audition for Sinners due to a racial slur dialogue.

The Ryan Coogler joint has become one of the most acclaimed films this year due to its unique take on the vampire lore, visuals, and exceptional themes that resonated with millions of audiences. It also featured an all-star cast with the likes of Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, and Jack O'Connell leading the cast. However, as it turns out, Kelly was almost part of the ensemble.

In an interview on The Pat McAfee Show (via The Hollywood Reporter), Kelly shared that he turned down the chance to audition for the role of the "second vampire" in Sinners because he had to say the N-word in the dialogue.

He was likely referring to the character of Bert, a KKK member who became a vampire. He was played by July Talk member Peter Dreimanis.

"There’s been plenty of movies that come out that I was like, ah, I was supposed to be in that, or I did auditions for that. Like Sinners, I was supposed to be in that," Kelly said.

"The vampire, they had me set up to do the audition — it’s the one that’s in the house, so he’s the second vampire, the one that the guy comes and eats the family. In the audition, he has to say the N-word, and I wouldn’t do it."

So far, Coogler has not confirmed Kelly's claims in the interview. It should be noted that the character did not end up saying the N-word in the final cut of the film that was released.

Is Machine Gun Kelly Planning to Do More Acting Roles?

While Kelly is mostly known as a musician, he has done occasional, acting roles in the last few years. He starred in films such as Bird Box, The King of Staten Island, and many more.

He said in the interview that he still has "a lot of aspirations to be in movies." While he hasn't done any major roles yet, he is hopeful that there will be a "universal timing. It’ll align. The angels will put something in the works."

Kelly added that he would like to star in movies while he is still young. "I would really like to be recruited into a movie while I still got some looks," he quipped.

So far, there is no announcement yet on the upcoming movie that Kelly is planning to star in soon.
