Denzel Washington admitted recently that he doesn't care about winning an Oscar, and it was never a factor in his career decisions.

Why Denzel Washington Doesn't Care About Winning Oscars?
In an interview with Jake Hamilton, Washington shared that his acting career decisions have nothing to do with winning an award, and he doesn't care about whether a project will lead him to taking home an Oscar.
"I don’t do it for Oscars. I don’t care about that kind of stuff. I’ve been at this a long time, and there’s time when I won and shouldn’t have won and then didn’t win and should’ve won. Man gives the award. God gives the reward," he explained.
"I’m not that interested in Oscars. People ask me, ‘Where do I keep it?’ Well, next to the other one. I’m not bragging! Just telling you how I feel about it. On my last day, they aren’t going to do me a bit of good."
Washington has won two Oscars so far in his illustrious career: Best Supporting Actor for Glory and Best Actor for Training Day.
Overall, he has a total of nine acting nominations, making him one of the most nominated actors in Oscars history. Earlier this year, he was being predicted to receive his 10th acting nomination for Gladiator II, but he failed to make it on the list.

Washington is currently promoting his new film Highest 2 Lowest, which is his reunion project with long-time friend and collaborator Spike Lee.
