The lineup was finally announced today after a lot of anticipation from cinephiles. Once again, it is full of promising films from both award-winning and rising filmmakers from parts of the world.

The Phoenician Scheme (Wes Anderson)
Wes Anderson is back with the new film The Phoenician Scheme that will feature another star-studded cast including the likes of Benicio del Toro, Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Bryan Cranston, Michael Cera, and many more.
The film is described as an espionage comedy that is the "story of a family and a family business." It is part of the festival's main competition.
Eddington (Ari Aster)
After helming horror and psychological thriller films, Ari Aster is back this year with Eddington and, this time around, he is conquering the Western genre.

After winning the Palme d'Or award a few years ago, Julia Ducournau is making her grand Cannes Film Festival comeback with her new film Alpha. It is part of the festival's main competition.
The film focuses on Alpha, a 13-year-old troubled teenager who lives alone with her mother in the 1980s. Their world comes crashing down the day she comes home from school with a tattoo on her arm.
The History of Sound (Oliver Hermanus)
Paul Mescal and Josh O'Connor star together in Oliver Hermanus' gay romantic drama The History of Sound, which will be part of the main competition.
The film follows two young men, Lionel (Mescal) and David (O’Connor), in the shadows of WWI, who are determined to record the lives, voices, and music of Americans. As they begin to log the events, the two fall in love.
Nouvelle Vague (Richard Linklater)
Richard Linklater is making his Cannes Film Festival return with the new French-language film Nouvelle Vague as part of the main competition.

The Mastermind (Kelly Reichardt)

Sentimental Value (Joachim Trier)
Joachim Trier and Renate Reinsve are collaborating again in the upcoming Norwegian comedy-drama film Sentimental Value, which will be part of the festival's main competition.

Eleanor the Great (Scarlett Johansson)
