The nomination voting period for this year's Primetime Emmy Awards this year has finally started.

Hundreds of shows are in consideration and hoping to be recognized by the Television Academy to make it to the list of this year's nominees. Some of them are popular shows that are critically acclaimed and ratings hits, while some are under the radar.

Here is our list of the five underrated TV shows that deserve to get Emmy nominations this year.

Dying for Sex

The eight-episode FX on Hulu limited series Dying for Sex focuses on the story of a woman diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, who abandons her husband of 15 years and begins to fully explore her sexuality.

Michelle Williams and Jenny Slater delivered Emmy-worthy performances that we hope to be recognized by the voters. The series itself also deserved to be nominated in the top category due to its successful balance of humor and drama in tackling the serious subject matter.

Paradise

The Hulu drama Paradise centers on a Secret Service agent as he investigates the murder of a former president in a seemingly peaceful community. It is showrun by Dan Fogelman of This Is Us.

The series is full of twists and turns that put the viewers on the edge of their seats. It is also commanded by a powerful performance from Sterling K. Brown, who deserved to be nominated. Hopefully, the voters will not forget this on their ballot.

Étoile

The Prime Video comedy-drama series Étoile focuses on the dancers and artistic staff of two world-renowned ballet companies as they embark on an ambitious gambit to save their storied institutions by swapping their most talented stars.

While the series was abruptly canceled by the streamer after one season, we are hoping that the voters will still give this a chance and nominate this in the craft categories. It deserves to be recognized for its exceptional choreography and cinematography.

The Agency

The Paramount+ with Showtime drama The Agency follows a group of CIA agents who find themselves in a world of even deeper intrigue and subterfuge, and fighting their own battles as they grapple with existential threats to the nation and the world.

The series bolsters an all-star cast including the likes of Michael Fassbender, Richard Gere, Jeffrey Wright, and Jodie Turner-Smith, who all delivered great performances. Its writing deserves to be recognized due to its nuanced portrayal of the spy world that we don't see in other shows in the genre.

Mid-Century Modern

The Hulu multi-camera sitcom Mid-Century Modern centers on three best friends, gay gentlemen of a certain age, who decide to spend their golden years living together in Palm Springs, where the wealthiest one lives with his mother.

The series brought back the old-school type of comedy that we don't see a lot on television anymore, and it is led by a talented group of cast members who are all worthy of getting nominated. Despite its format, we hope that the Television Academy will consider this.
