The Star Wars franchise continues to expand today with more upcoming films and TV shows, including spinoff stories of some of the fan-favorite characters in the galaxy far, far away.
Recently, Lucasfilm announced during the Star Wars Celebration event in Japan that Darth Maul is getting his own animated spinoff series titled Maul: Shadow Lord that is set to release on Disney+ in 2026 with Sam Witwer reprising the role.
Here are the five characters in the Star Wars franchise that also deserve to get their own animated spinoff series.
Qimir
Qimir was considered to be one of the highlights of The Acolyte and became an instant fan favorite. A potential animated spinoff series could give them the opportunity to explore more of the character, his backstory on how he turned to the dark side, and his overall ambition.
This could also be an avenue for them to tackle the storylines that they would have explored if The Acolyte had gotten the chance to continue with a second season.
Asajj Ventress
Asajj Ventress's surprising return in The Bad Batch proved that there are still more stories to tell with the character. She has also become a fan favorite because of her compelling storyline and personality since her Clone Wars debut.
An animated spinoff series could give them a chance to explore Asajj Ventress as the center of the story and not just a scene-stealing supporting character. A lot of fans would definitely be on board with the idea.
Mace Windu
One of the biggest debates among Star Wars fans is whether Mace Windu actually died during the events of Revenge of the Sith.
Perhaps an animated spinoff series centering on him could give us the answers, as well as explore more of the character's backstory that hasn't been tackled yet in other animated shows.
Fennec Shand
Fennec Shand became an instant fan-favorite the moment she made her debut in The Mandalorian season 1. Fortunately for fans, she made more appearances in other shows, including The Bad Batch.
An animated spinoff series could give fans an opportunity to see how Fennec would operate as the main focus of a story. All her appearances so far have indicated that she can carry a story of her own.
Finn
While John Boyega's Finn made an impressive debut in The Force Awakens, the later films in the sequel trilogy did not warrant enough material for him, and he was ultimately not given a proper, compelling story arc.
Lucasfilm could make amends and correct that mistake through an animated spinoff series where they can showcase Finn as the main protagonist and see him go on different adventures around the galaxy.
