It was reported recently that Stranger Things star Sadie Sink has been cast for a top-secret major role in the upcoming MCU film Spider-Man 4.
With the details regarding her character still scarce at the moment, fans have been speculating which role she could play in her MCU debut whether it's a new love interest for Peter Parker or a fan-favorite mutant.
Let's explore her potential roles below.
Jean Grey
Months before her Spider-Man 4 casting was confirmed, it was heavily rumored that Sink was being eyed to play the MCU's Jean Grey. After all, her impressive resume has shown that she is capable of playing the powerful and complicated mutant.
Now that she is confirmed to be joining the franchise, this poses a question of whether Spider-Man 4 will be the vehicle for Jean Grey's official debut in the MCU.
Gwen Stacy
Gwen Stacy has yet to make any appearances in Tom Holland's Spider-Man films. Perhaps they will finally introduce her in the fourth installment now that Zendaya's MJ has no memory of Peter Parker's existence.
There is no doubt that Sink is qualified to play a character like Gwen Stacy, especially if she also takes the hero route similar to the recent iterations in the comics and the Spider-Verse films.
New MJ Variant
While the MCU's Peter Parker already has his own "MJ" with Zendaya's character Michelle "MJ" Jones-Watson, some fans have speculated that the film could introduce another MJ with a comic-accurate Mary Jane Watson.
Reporter Jeff Sneider has also shared in his scoop that he has heard from sources that Sink is set to play "MJ" in the fourth film which supports the idea that a new MJ variant will be introduced.
Firestar
Firestar has also become a popular choice in fans' speculations regarding the role that Sink could play in Spider-Man 4.
In case you're not familiar with the character, Firestar/Angel Jones is a superhero that can generate and manipulate microwave radiation. She could also fly and create intense heat and flames.
After all, the character has been associated with the web-slinger throughout her history in the comics and television. She has also yet to make her cinematic debut so this could be an opportunity for Marvel to finally introduce her to the wider audience.
Julia Carpenter
While this might seem to be a long shot, there is also a possibility that Sink will be introduced as the MCU's Julia Carpenter, a character that is heavily associated with the Spider-Man world.
She already made her cinematic debut in Madame Web where she was played by Sydney Sweeney and introduced with a different name "Julia Cornwall."
The film could introduce new characters that will be Peter's friend/ally in his new adventure and perhaps Julia Carpenter could be one of the characters that he'll cross paths with. Just like Sink, she is also a redhead so there is also a physical resemblance that fans could buy into.
