There are several new TV shows on streaming platforms and networks that are slated to release this month. Some of them have been highly anticipated by fans for months now due to the caliber of talent involved or the IP familiarity.
Here are the five most anticipated new TV shows of May 2025.
The Four Seasons (Netflix) - May 1
The new Tina Fey comedy series, The Four Seasons, has arrived on Netflix on the same day as we welcome the month of May. It is based on the 1981 cult classic directed by and starring Alan Alda.
Six old friends head for a relaxing weekend away, only to learn that one couple in the group is about to split up. The three couples are completely upended by the news. Over the course of a year, we follow the friends on four vacations, and watch how this shake-up affects everyone’s dynamic — sending old issues and new bubbling to the surface.
Duster (Max) - May 15
J.J. Abrams is making his TV comeback with a new crime thriller series on Max titled Duster. He co-created the project with The Walking Dead writer LaToya Morgan.
The 1970s-set drama follows a getaway driver and a young FBI agent as they take on a notorious crime syndicate. Josh Holloway, Rachel Hilson, and Keith David lead the main cast.
Murderbot (Apple TV+) - May 16
Emmy winner Alexander Skarsgard stars in the new Apple TV+ sci-fi comedy series Murderbot. The project is showrun by the Weitz brothers.
The series centers on a self-hacking security construct who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable clients. Murderbot must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.
Sirens (Netflix) - May 22
Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy, and Milly Alcock star in the new Netflix limited series Sirens. It is based on the 2011 play Elemeno Pea by Molly Smith Metzler, who is also the creator of the project.
The series centers on Devon, who thinks her sister Simone has a really creepy relationship with her new boss, the enigmatic socialite Michaela Kell. Michaela’s cult-ish life of luxury is like a drug to Simone, and Devon has decided it’s time for an intervention, but she has no idea what a formidable opponent Michaela will be.
The Better Sister (Prime Video) - May 29
Elizabeth Banks and Jessica Biel star in the new Prime Video eight-episode electric thriller limited series The Better Sister. It is based on the novel by bestselling author Alafair Burke.
The series follows Chloe, a high-profile media executive, who lives a picturesque life with her handsome lawyer husband Adam and teenage son Ethan by her side while her estranged sister Nicky struggles to make ends meet and stay clean. When Adam is brutally murdered, the prime suspect sends shockwaves through the family, reuniting the two sisters, as they try to untangle a complicated family history to discover the truth behind his death.
