The Star Wars Celebration 2025 event was recently held in Japan last week to huge success, as thousands of guests from around the world attended to celebrate the franchise.

The event was full of announcements and reveals about the upcoming projects that are currently in the works across film, TV, video game, and literature. It is also a celebration of the franchise's long-lasting legacy as it is nearing its 50th anniversary.

Maul: Shadow Lord Animated Series

Lucasfilm Animation announced that they are working on a new animated series for Disney+ titled Maul: Shadow Lord that is slated to release in 2026.

Set after the events of the final season of The Clone Wars, Maul rises again as he plots to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire. Sam Witwer is reprising his fan-favorite role.

Hayden Christensen Returning in Ahsoka Season 2

It was officially confirmed that Hayden Christensen will be reprising the role of Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka season 2, which is set to begin production in London soon.

The actor made an appearance on stage to confirm his return in the show's highly anticipated second season. "There’s not much I can share, but Anakin will be back for season two," he said to the crowd.

Star Wars: Starfighter Official Announcement

Lucasfilm officially confirmed that they are working on a new Star Wars movie titled Star Wars: Starfighter, directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Gosling. Both appeared on stage to announce the project.

While the plot details are still scarce, they confirmed that it will be a brand new adventure that takes place five years after The Rise of Skywalker. Production will take place this fall. It is set to arrive in theaters on Memorial Day 2027.

The Ninth Jedi Anime Spinoff Series

During the event, Lucasfilm announced that they are working on a Visions anime spinoff series titled The Ninth Jedi, based on the fan-favorite episode in Volume 1.

Director Kenji Kamiyama came on stage to announce his project. He teased that the series features lightsabers that change color depending on one’s Force, and that Kara's father invented these lightsabers and has been kidnapped.

At the closing ceremonies of the event, it was announced that the next Star Wars Celebration event will be held in Los Angeles in 2027, just in time for the franchise's 50th anniversary.

The event will be taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center. It will be the first time Star Wars Celebration has been held in Los Angeles since 2006.
