The new Wes Anderson film, The Phoenician Scheme, recently premiered at the Cannes Film Festival to mostly positive responses from the audience and critics.
Just like in his previous movies, the cast consists of familiar actors who have starred in Anderson's past films or are part of his repertory company. It will also feature newcomers to the Anderson family, such as Michael Cera and Mia Threapleton.
Here are the five actors we would like to see appear in a Wes Anderson movie in the future.
Nicolas Cage
Nicolas Cage is known to be a fearless actor who has worked with many acclaimed filmmakers throughout his career, so it's truly shocking that he still has not worked with Wes Anderson yet.
He definitely could fit in the mold of the Anderson movies, as we know that he can do different acting styles, whether it's theatrical/showy or more restrained/subtle. Hopefully, he will be recruited into the repertory company soon.
Kathryn Hahn
Kathryn Hahn is another performer who is willing to do any type of genre, whether it's comedy, drama, or a superhero world. She also always shines whenever she plays her characters, regardless of whether it's lead or supporting.
It would be cool to see her finally become part of a Wes Anderson movie and potentially play a meaty character, especially since we know that she is a master of delicately balancing between drama and comedy.
Hugh Jackman
Hugh Jackman is currently at the state of his career where he's juggling between playing Wolverine again in the MCU, doing a Broadway show, or starring in movies that take wild and original swings.
It would be an interesting career move for him to do a Wes Anderson movie, and we've seen in the past that he has the chops for his particular style, as he has done both comedy and drama across the spectrum.
Aubrey Plaza
Aubrey Plaza is known for her deadpan delivery, which can be seen as a requirement for actors to master if they want to be part of a Wes Anderson movie.
We know that she can also excel in both drama and comedy. With her talent in acting plus sublime deadpan delivery, she can fit in the world of Wes Anderson and, hopefully, she will get the call soon.
Pedro Pascal
Pedro Pascal has become one of the busiest actors in Hollywood. He is also open to working in both franchise properties and original material from acclaimed auteurs.
Joining a Wes Anderson movie would be a great move for him, and there is no doubt that he can fit in that world seamlessly. Whether it's lead, supporting, or a cameo, we know that he can shine in whatever role he gets assigned to.
