Over the weekend, Magic: The Gathering head designer Mark Rosewater revealed the first details for the upcoming set Zendikar Rising, giving us a look at the new art as well as a few hints about the mechanics that will be featured in the set. He also said that there are three returning Planeswalkers, and now we know who they are thanks to images of the set's packaging from Wizards of the Coast.
As you can see in the Zendikar Rising packaging above, the three Planeswalkers featured are Jace, Nahiri, and Nissa, so expect new Planeswalker cards featuring them soon.
Let's take a look back at when we have last seen the three Planeswalkers.
Jace
The last time we saw Jace in the Magic storyline is after the events of War of the Spark. He participated in the memorial service for Gideon on Theros. Jace and Vraska consummated their love but they broke up after Vraska accused him of still having feelings for Liliana.
Nahiri
Last year, War of the Spark featured Nahiri fighting her rival Sorin, but they came to a temporary truce to join forces against the Eternals of Bolas' Dreadhorde. They were among the few planeswalkers who chose to stay on Ravnica after Chandra disabled the Immortal Sun.
Nissa
After Nissa participated in the memorial service for Gideon on Theros, she invited Chandra to come with her to Zendikar, but Chandra's personal issues had ruined their relationship and their farewells were quite cold.
Zendikar Rising is set to release on September 25, 2020.
