Who would've thought that Colin Farrell had gotten his Minority Report co-star Tom Cruise angry on set for filming one too many takes during a pivotal scene in the 2002 sci-fi flick?

The Batman star recalled what happened on Stephen Colbert's The Late Show.

In a recent appearance on Stephen Colbert's The Late Show, Farrell got candid about one of his least proud moments on set, which was on Minority Report, specifically a scene he had to film with co-star Tom Cruise.

"I had one of the worst days I've ever had on a film set [on Minority Report]," Farrell admitted, "It was my birthday on May 31, and we were shooting, and I begged production — who did I think I was? — of a $120 million film if they [could] not have me working on my birthday."

But as the story goes, Farrell's request was declined. His "pickup was 6 AM," and he ended up getting into "all sorts of nonsense the night before." The day after, he was late to the filming set, showed up looking disheveled so much that assistant director David H. Venghaus Jr. tried keeping him from the set.

"And I went, 'Just get me six Pacifico Cervezas and a packet of 20 [Marlboro] Red," Farrell said, "Now, listen, it's not cool because two years later I went to rehab, right? But it worked in the moment." But that's not where the whole story ends.

The 49-year-old recounted he "had a couple of beers" and went to the set drunk, recalling how "terrible" that memory was.

"I will never forget the line I had that I couldn't get out. It was, 'I'm sure you've all grasped the fundamental paradox of pre-crime methodology.'" Farrell continued, "That was the line that started the scene. I remember [the crew] coming up and saying, 'Do you want to go out and take a breath of fresh air?' And I remember thinking, 'If I [did that], then I'll be under more pressure when I come back in to be better.'"

Ultimately, Farrell decided against it and insisted, "'No, we'll just go through it.'"

"We did 46 takes," Farrell revealed, "Tom wasn't very happy with me. Tom, whom I love, was not very happy!"

Minority Report took place in a future where police arrest murderers before they commit a crime by using psychic individuals to get into their heads, which is loosely based on the 1956 science fiction novella of the same name by Philip K. Dick.
